6 Dec – As "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" craze slowly falters off worldwide, the North American box office for the weekend just gone registered the movie at first place for the third time in a row, as it collected a whopping US $246 million thus far. Second in line is the Jason Segal and Amy Adams' Muppet comedy, "The Muppets", which despite receiving stellar reviews, continues to maintain its hold on the chart unable to breakthrough "Twilight's" grasp. Martin Scorsese's 3D animated film, "Hugo" however, climbs two spots to third place last weekend from its fifth place opening, according to online tracker, Box Office Mojo. For Malaysia, despite advance ticket sales and an impressive first week for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1", local movie from Tarentella Productions' "Ombak Rindu" managed to collect RM 4 million in just four days, making the movie helm the top spot as it engulfs "Twilight", proving that a good local movie might just have the chops to drown a big-budgeted Hollywood one. The third place sees "Puss In Boots" for the local box office for the weekend just gone. For Singapore, "Twilight" too lost its grip at first place as the movie sinks its fangs into second place, allowing "Puss In Boots" to take first place as the local movie "Already Famous" directed by Michelle Chong and starring Alaric Tay and Alien Huang takes third place for the local box office for the weekend just gone. Other new releases and sneak peeks last week in Malaysia include, "Poraali", "The Dirty Picture" and "Petaling Street Warriors" In Singapore, new releases and sneak peeks last week were, "The Dirty Picture", "White Vengeance" and "Restless".
