Anzalna going over the statement of apology with her lawyer.

3 Jul – It may not have started out to be a stunt for cheap publicity, but that is what rising actress Anzalna, born Nur Anzalna Nasir, got when she defamed the reputation of fellow actress Neelofa through the article "Anzalna bidas Neelofa" ("Anzalna chastises Neelofa") in B*Pop, Berita Minggu dated 10 June, which she admitted to.

Following Anzalna's defamatory statement to entertainment writer-reporter Zubir Mohd Yunus, Neelofa, whose real name is Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor, issued a notice claiming that in seven days, Anzalna has to come forward with solid proof to back up her accusations and should she fail, legal action will be taken against her.

Despite that it has already been more than a week since the notice was issued, Anzalna has finally came forward, but to apologize publicly instead in a press conference held yesterday afternoon in Hotel Royale Bintang, Damansara.

In her prepared apology, Anzalna confessed that what she said were not true. In addition, she did not have any solid proof to back her allegation that Neelofa had started a hate page against her on Facebook up.

"I, Nur Anzalna Md Nasir, on the advice of Seniman, apologise to Neelofa for making statements that affected her reputation and her family, in a story published in Berita Minggu on page 10 on 10th June 2012."

She added that she did not want this matter to drag on because she felt that as a Muslim, she should forgive and forget.

"I am not apologizing because I am admitting defeat, but because of Allah. Only God knows what I did and let Him be the judge of that."

The statement was heard by the lawyers from both sides, including Seniman president, Zed Zaidi, who acted as the mediator in this case.

The 24-year-old actress also went on to explain that she did not want to embarrass anyone further, including Neelofa, which was why she dared to issue a public apology.

Anzalna also agreed to the unusual terms of their settlement contract set by Neelofa's lawyers, Ahmad Hidayat Md Nor and Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak, which was that she was not to make any statement involving the "Nona" host.

"To me, this may be part of the challenges to come for me as a newcomer. I feel that this is a lesson for me to be more careful after this," said Anzalna before ending her statement.
