8 Nov – Hot on the heels of Aaron Paul's ("Breaking Bad") and Imogen Poots' ("Fright Night") casting in the live-action film adaptation of "Need for Speed", is rumours of English actor Dominic Cooper's ("Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter") casting in the upcoming film. According to Collider, Cooper is in negotiations to star opposite Paul as the other male lead in the DreamWorks picture. His role is that of an ex-NASCAR driver named Dino, a businessman of sorts whose business is obtaining high-performance vehicles with the help of his wealthy connections. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Paul will play an underground race car driver who owns and operates a garage that modifies expensive cars. When he is wrongly convicted and sent to prison for a crime, he swears revenge on whoever framed him and killed his best friend upon his release. Poots will play an exotic car dealer who does business with the duo.
Scott Waugh ("Act of Valor") will direct the Electronic Arts video game from a script by George Gatins, who developed the story with John Gatins ("Flight"). For those who are unfamiliar, "Need for Speed" is the most successful racing video game series in the world, and one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. The film "Need For Speed" will be out in theatres on 7 February 2014.
