6 June – The MTV Movie Awards 2012 paid their tributes to the blockbuster phenomenon, Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games", by bestowing them with four Golden Popcorns, which is the most wins for a fandom at this year's MTV Movie Awards, although the odds were not in their favour to win the Movie of the Year, which went to the other tween fandom, Stephanie Meyer's "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1". The four awards that "The Hunger Games" took away were Best Male Performance by Josh Hutcherson, Best Female Performance by Jennifer Lawrence, Best Fight by the couple against Alexander Ludwig and Best On-Screen Transformation by Elizabeth Banks, but fell short of receiving the top honour, which "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1" walked away with, in addition to Best Kiss.
However, these two were not the only fandom in competition. Fans certainly did not forget the final instalment of the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows – Part 2", thus saw its cast leaving with several wins such as Best Hero, Best Cast and Emma Watson winning the MTV Trailblazer Award. R-rated comedy "Bridesmaids" also received accolades for Best Comedic Performance and Best Gut-Wrenching Performance (literally), while Jennifer Aniston received Best On-Screen Dirtbag for "Horrible Bosses". Other honourable mentions include MTV Generation Award, which "Dark Shadows" star, Johnny Depp, was awarded with after his performance with The Black Keys.
