Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak greeting the crowd at the gala premiere of "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes"

16 Jan – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was in attendance for the grand gala premiere screening of Jack Lim's new Chinese New Year movie, "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes" at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.

Datuk Seri and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor joined the red carpet session and attended the screening of the local movie together with 100 local artists and celebrities from both the entertainment and fashion industry at the huge event.

This is supposedly the first time a Malaysian Prime Minister had been present for the gala premiere of a local Chinese movie in Malaysian history. Therefore director Silver, Jack Lim and the main cast of "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes" were deeply honoured to have support for the local production, which is also the first local Chinese movie to be released alongside Hong Kong's Chinese New Year blockbusters.

"I know we are challenged by big foreign films. But I hope we can gain your support for this piece. Don't let us lose horribly to them," said Jack Lim, who brought his family along with him, when he addressed the Malaysian crowd.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the theme of the movie, Datuk Seri said, "As Prime Minister of this country, I have to ensure that I can create a very conducive environment. I have to ensure there's peace, stability, good policies and implementation, so that all Malaysians can fulfil their hopes and wishes."

Besides the cast and crew, the stars that walked on the specially built RM100,000 LED bridge on the red carpet included director Ho Yu Hang, Chiu Keng Guan, veteran actress Aunty Lai Meng, Melvin Sia, Chan Mei-o, Stella Chung, Henley Hii, Feon Lai, former badminton doubles champion Cheah Soon Kit and more.

Distributed by RAM Entertainment Sdn. Bhd. "Ah Beng The Movie: 3 Wishes" will be released in Malaysian cinemas on 19 January 2012.
