20 Dec – Those who wanted to experience being part of Captain Kirk and Captain Jean-Luc Picard's crew now have their chance, as the exciting "Star Trek: The Exhibition" has finally arrived in Malaysia, stationed at the prestigious National Science Centre at Bukit Kiara yesterday. Handled by EMS Entertainment, one of the leading global entertainment exhibitors, "Star Trek: The Exhibition" has chosen Kuala Lumpur as its first stopover in Asia after receiving great response from Canada during its time in Vancouver not long ago. "Our show before this in Vancouver, Canada was a great success and attracted an average of over 8,000 visitors each day. We know that there are just as many fans of the show in Asia; hence we are kicking off our tour with Malaysia. The exhibition allows fans and visitors to explore and experience the world of Star Trek beyond the movie and TV screens, live, up-close and in person, in true Star Trek fashion," said Greg Suzuki, the managing director of EMS Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, who is aiming for 200,000 visitors. He added, "This exhibition not only caters to "Star Trek" fans, but it is also dedicated to the new generation, the children. It gives the youngsters a chance to get to know more about the franchise."
Starting from 19 December 2012 until 31 March 2013, "Trekkies" in Malaysia will have the privilege to take a grand voyage into the world of "Star Trek" through the long history of the 46-year-old franchise that is displayed together with the largest collection of authentic "Star Trek" sets, props, classic character costumes, types of spaceships, cultures and science from all five "Star Trek" television series and 11 "Star Trek" silver screen pieces, including J.J. Abrams acclaimed 2009 "Star Trek" reboot that starred Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana. Fans can also witness the teleportation machines used in the show, the legendary Captain's chair, and one of the biggest highlights of the event, which is the enormous seven metre-long model of the USS Enterprise starship by paying only RM20 per adult and RM10 for children and students.
Meanwhile, the upcoming sequel to the 2009 film, "Star Trek Into Darkness", will be released in cinemas in Malaysia on 16 May 2013.
