TomKat's custody battle for Suri

4 Jul – With the recent news of Katie Holmes seeking for a divorce from her husband of six years, Academy Award winner Tom Cruise, shocking the world over, many are now holding their breath for the inevitable fallout of their marriage, with a legal battle for the custody of their six-year old daughter, Suri Cruise, making headlines in the tabloids.

According to various reports, Katie Holmes will be taking up arms against her former husband for sole custody rights of her daughter, as she wants complete control over Suri's educational and religious choices.

The main reason for this was speculated to be Katie's wanting to prevent Suri from joining the Sea Organisation, described as a 'bootcamp' for Scientologists' children to learn the ways of the religion.

On the other hand, there are other sources stating that it was Cruise's objection towards Katie's desire to do a reunion movie for "Dawson's Creek".

"Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad," while Katie "didn't care how 'low-brow' he thinks Dawson's Creek is," said the source. "She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun -- something she rarely does anymore."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie's father, Ohio-based lawyer Martin Holmes, had helped to strategise his daughter's impending divorce and ways to win custody rights for her child, such as filing for a divorce first.

Meanwhile, while claimed to be shocked by Katie's file for divorce, Cruise has enlisted the legal advice of Dennis Wasser, the same attorney Cruise had used during his divorce with his second wife Nicole Kidman. Custody battle aside, Cruise will also be battling a serial killer in "Jack Reacher" due out in Malaysia and Singapore cinemas on 20 December this year and an alien race in "Oblivion", out next year.
