Anne Hathaway is set to star in "Taming Of The Shrew".

15 Jan – After bagging the Best Supporting Actress In A Motion Picture (Musical) award at the 70th Golden Globe Awards yesterday, "Les Miserables" star Anne Hathaway is ready to bring her chops to another theatrical film; "Taming Of The Shrew", an adaptation of one of the most well-known plays by William Shakespeare, according to Collider.

"Taming Of The Shrew" tells the story of Petruccio, a fortune seeker who arrives in the town of Padua in the hopes of marrying a wealthy woman and he manages to tie the knot with a rich girl named Katherina.

The new project has hired Abi Morgan, the British screenwriter who is notable for her work in "The Iron Lady" and "Shame", to pen the script, while it is still unconfirmed what role Hathaway will be taking up.

This will not be the first time for Hollywood to tackle the play as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton first starred in 1967 version of "The Taming Of The Shrew". In 1999, audiences then saw the modern reimagining of the tale in Gil Junger's "10 Things I Hate About You", starring the late Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.

Anne Hathaway's portrayal of Fantine in "Les Miserables" had won her the Best Supporting Actress In A Motion Picture (Musical) award at this year's Golden Globe Awards.

The 30-year-old star will next lend her voice to the sequel of Fox's 2011 hit animation "Rio", which is in pre-production while gearing up for her BAFTA and Oscars nomination results in February.
