30 Jan – Malaysian director Adrian Teh revealed that his next film will be a yet-to-be-titled horror film instead of a sequel to "The Wedding Diary 2", slated to begin shooting in March 2013. "Looking at the kind of horror films that are showing in local cinemas these days, there are not enough truly horrifying films; therefore, I want my upcoming horror film will be purely horror, not comedy horror," said the Penang-born director. As for a sequel to "The Wedding Diary 2", which is set to be released on 7 February 2013, Teh dictated that he would only be making one if reception for the second instalment is positive. Of course, the main reason for this is so as to obtain sufficient funding to produce a third instalment, but Teh also wants audience to find his next films to be better the last, instead of mindlessly churning out one film after another. He added, "I hope that my film can help create more demand for Malaysian films from international audiences as our film industry needs all the help and support it can get."
"The Wedding Diary 2" sees the return of the original cast to deal with a whole different set of problems, that is, the birth of Wei Jie (Aniu) and Zhi Xin's (Elanne Kwong) son, as well as Zhi Xin's father, Colin's (Jack Choo) sudden stroke. The romantic comedy opens in cinemas in Malaysia on 7 February 2013 and in Singapore on 14 February 2013.
Meanwhile, moviegoers and fans can meet the film's stars - Adrian Teh, Aniu, Elanne Kwong and the baby - as they will be walking the red carpet for the film's launch at Oval Concourse, 1 Utama Shopping Centre this Friday, 1 February 2013.
