"Amityville" returns Jan 2015

"The Amityville Horror" (1979).

30 Dec – More than 10 films have been made based on the horrors of a house in Amityville, a Long Island suburb in New York, and the franchise will soldier on with a new film, due to be released in 2 January 2015.

Simply titled "Amityville", the film will be a 'found-footage' type film to rival the likes of "Paranormal Activity" and "The Blair Witch Project".

The film was previously titled "The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes" and it will be written and directed by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands to showcase the events after the time of the original "The Amityville Horror" book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976.

The reboot is set to be released in 2015.

The last time Hollywood tried to resurrect this franchise was with 200's "The Amityville Horror" with Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George. There have also been two films called "The Amityville Haunting" and "The Amityville Asylum", and the documentary "My Amityville Horror", which told the original story from the point of view of Daniel Lutz, one of the children who moved into the house in 1975.

In the recent successful horror film "The Conjuring" by James Wan, the film incidentally involved the Amityville investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

"Amityville" will haunt your theatres in early 2015.
