23 Oct – In a tribute to the cult classic comedy and their return with a sequel, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues", American ice cream company Ben and Jerry's have released a new flavour called "Scotchy Scotch Scotch". Fans of the film will know that the flavour relates to the film's lead character Ron Burgundy's love for scotch. Parents and non-alcoholics will be pleased to know that the ice cream itself does not have any alcohol content in it, because the 'scotch' that they are referring to is actually butterscotch. The limited-edition Ron Burgundy's "Scotchy Scotch Scotch" is a mix of butterscotch ice cream and butterscotch swirl ribbons.
Ben & Jerry's has a history of product tie-ins with Hollywood, including Stephen Colbert's "AmeriCone Dream" for the Comedy Central host, "Liz Lemon Frozen Yogurt", which was launched at the end of Tina Fey's sitcom "30 Rock" and the "Schweddy Balls" flavour, inspired by the classic "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) sketch in 1998 in which Alec Baldwin's Pete Schweddy brings his infamous Schweddy Balls to the hosts to try out. The "Anchorman" sequel, starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate, is about San Diego's top rated newsman who returns to take New York's first 24-hour news channel by storm, is aimed for a December release. The film is directed by Adam McKay.
