Bay attacked on set of "Transformers 4"

Michael Bay was attacked with an air conditioner in Hong Kong.

18 Oct – Director Michael Bay was attacked on Thursday during the set of the fourth instalment of the "Transformers" movies which is currently filming in Hong Kong.

It was reported that local street vendors became violent when Bay refused to quadruple the payment they would get for the disruption caused by filming.

Contrary to news reports, neither Bay nor anyone in the cast or crew was injured, but the production was attacked by a man, allegedly under the influence of some sort of narcotic, who was wielding an air-conditioning unit as a weapon, according to Hollywood Reporter.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" is expected to be out by 2014.

"Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount," Bay wrote regarding the issue. "I personally told this man and his friends to forget it. We were not going to let him extort us. He didn't like that answer."

"An hour later, he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked, threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That's when the security jumped on him. But it took seven big guys to subdue him," Bay writes. "It was like a zombie in Brad Pitt's movie "World War Z" - he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guards Nike shoe, insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved."

The South China Morning Post claims that the attacker was a suspected member of the triads, or Hong Kong mafia.

Bay is in Hong Kong filming "Transformers: Age of Extinction" starring Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz, which is due in theaters by June 2014.
