4 Aug - Popular TV host Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting the Academy Awards in 2014, being no stranger to the prestigous film industry night since her first hosting duties for the Oscars back in 2007. Award producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, were critised for this year's decision in giving the hosting duties to Seth MacFarlane ("Ted" and "Family Guy") for his brand of crude humour despite the hike in ratings amongst young viewers familiar with MacFarlane's work. Picking up after MacFarlane, 55-year-old Ellen took to Twitter to express her thanks in her usual comical ways. "It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra." The 85th annual Academy Awards will be held live on Sunday, 2 March 2014 at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles. Viewers in Malaysia and Singapore can catch the live broadcast on Monday, 3 March 2014.
