16 Apr – On 11 April 2013, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) officially launched its CityOne Megamall branch, which boasts the first THX hall for East Malaysia.

A THX-certified hall means almost no interference from facility noise, concessions and adjacent auditoriums which results in crisp, accurate cinema sound. Viewing angles, projector placement and screen illumination are also taken into account to ensure optimum picture presentation.

The launch saw Mr Heng Beng Fatt (GSC Deputy GM), Madam Sim Ewe Kee and Mr Stephen Long (Kenbest Sdn Bhd) and Mr Irving Chee (GSC General Manager) commemorating the event with a first ticket purchase at the box office counters of GSC CityOne Megamall. Not only that, the event was also graced by Iron Man and Iron Patriot.

Prior to the launch, movie fans and residents of Kuching were offered five days of free screenings in the cinema's 10 halls and 1,876 seats, which saw admissions of up to 31,088.

GSC CityOne Megamall is not the first GSC cinema in Sarawak. The title was given to GSC Bintang Megamall Miri, and the cinema is also the first GSC Lite and first fully digital cinema in East Malaysia.

Moviegoers and CityOne Megamall patrons were excited to see Iron Man and Iron Patriot at the launch.
