16 Mar – 2013 will see Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) expanding to three more locations after the recent launch of GSC Bintang Megamall, Miri which opened in February 2013. The upcoming cinemas on GSC's expansion list are GSC CityOne Megamall Kuching and GSC Palm Mall Seremban both 10-screens, along with GSC Nu Sentral KL which will house 11-screens. But the plan does not stop there as a 13-screen GSC IOI, Putrajaya and 10-screen GSC Aman Central, Alor Setar have been confirmed for the year 2014. Apart from the new cinemas, following the convenience of the e-Payment services at GSC, the cinema exhibitor will also be introducing its new service – e-Concession. This new online service will allow GSC patrons to purchase their popcorn and drinks online along with their movie tickets and redeem the goodies via express lane at the cinema, thus avoiding long concession queues. It will work similarly to the e-Payment service where the movie-goer would just need to print out the bar code or display the code on their smartphones for scanning during redemption at the cinema. e-Concession is scheduled to be introduced before the end of 2013. The new developments were made on Friday, 15 March, where GSC hosted a media night for the press and their business partners at GSC Signature, The Gardens. GSC currently has a total of 228 screenings in 27 locations nationwide.
