19 Jun – In celebration of Global Smurfs Day, which is in turn, a celebration of Peyo's, the creator of the Smurfs birthday, on 25 June 1928, fans of the blue creatures will be able to see them at different locations worldwide, including Malaysia this Saturday, 22 June! This will be the third worldwide Smurfs celebration. The last Global Smurfs Day saw fans painting one of the famous White Towns of Andalusia blue and setting a record for largest gathering of people dressed as Smurfs within a 24-hour period in multiple venues around the world!
Malaysian Smurfs fans get to join in the local Global Smurfs Day celebrations by visiting GSC Mid Valley at 12pm, the entrance of eCurve at 3pm and TGV 1 Utama at 7pm this Saturday on 22 June. There will be Smurfs costumed characters to greet and take pictures with, not to mention that they will also be handing out balloons and cookies from Delectable by Su!
"We're thrilled that we can continue the tradition we started with the first film with an all-new Global Smurfs Day celebration. This is a great way to honour Peyo's birthday and his legacy, by bringing the world together across generations for a day of fun and festivities," says Marc Weinstock, the President of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing.
"The Smurfs 2" is out in cinemas in Malaysia on 8 August 2013 and Singapore on 7 August 2013.
