28 Nov – "Gravity" director Alfonso Cuarón, who has also directed the third instalment to the "Harry Potter" franchise, says that he's interested in directing author J.K. Rowling's spinoff based on the companion book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". Cuarón was asked if he would consider a hypothetical offer from Warner Bros. to direct the Rowling-penned movie starring Newt Scamander and his answer was quite positive. "("Prisoner of Akzaban") was fun to make, and when I did it, I was invited to do the next one ("Goblet of Fire") but I didn't want to overstay the welcome, because it was such an experience. But now, why not?" But despite his will to direct the film, Cuarón added that he hasn't even been approached by Warner Bros. about the idea. "They haven't called me yet! They haven't decided to invite me! Looking forward! Because nobody's invited me." The possibility isn't too farfetched because the director just worked with long time "Potter" producer David Heyman on "Gravity", which performed very well critically and financially. Heyman is also set to produce "Fantastic Beasts", and given the pair's successful working relationship on two occasions now, the producer could feasibly approach the director with an offer.
