20 Aug – When Major David Teo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Metrowealth International Group (MIG) released a statement highlighting "Adnan Sempit 3" victory over actor-director Hans Isaac's "Lemak Kampung Santan", little did he think that the latter would take offense but he did. According to Hans, who directed and starred in "Lemak Kampung Santan", he is disappointed by David Teo's insensitive comment. "I was not disappointed when "Lemak Kampung Santan" was not well-received in cinemas, but I am definitely disappointed when I read David Teo's statement on 19 August in a paper that said "Adnan Sempit 3" has managed to beat my film. For me David's statement is like he's stepping on me, even though I'm already down, he wants to push me further down. As a producer he should have been more professional and not release statements like that," explained Hans.
However, when approached, David Teo denied ever having released such a statement about "Lemak Kampung Santan". He added that when he returned to Malaysia from Taiwan, he will contact Hans personally to smooth over the issue. Both "Adnan Sempit 3" and "Lemak Kampung Santan" were released on 8 August, but the former performed exceptionally well in the local box office, having collected RM 2.3 million after six days.
