23 Nov – A horror comedy with the traditional ritual of circumcision may seem like an odd thing to do, but according to director of "Hantu Tok Mudim", Wan Hafiz, he intentionally chose the subject because he wants to give the horror comedy genre a breath of fresh air. Hafiz wants to create a film that highlights the ritual of circumcision because it is rarely, if ever, mentioned in films, but in order for it to appeal to the mass audience; he infused it with horror and comedic elements. "Men are both intimidated and impressed by stories of circumcision, and that is something I am trying to share with the viewers in the form of fiction, instead of scaring children who haven't been circumcised," explained Wan Hafiz at the press conference of "Hantu Tok Mudim". Hafiz is also confident that the children of today are more open about circumcision and the film could be educational for them. He has revised the script to ensure that the there is plenty of humour and double entendre, but at the same time, making sure that they are not offensive. "I want to play with the audience's emotions. I want them to have their own interpretations towards the story as there is double entendre, and that is the difference between my film and other horror comedies out there."
