14 Sep – Djimon Hounsou joins the cast of "Fast & Furious 7" as Malaysian/Australian director James Wan starts shooting for the film. Hounsou will join the likes of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tony Jaa and Ronda Rousey in the new installment. According to the project's Twitter accounts, Kurt Russell was also about to join the cast of "Fast 7" but decided not to. He would have played the father of character Jesse, and would also have been Toretto's villain. He might, however, be cast in "Fast 8", as the film is in the works and they have already released some set images.
Few plot details have been unveiled but what is certain is that the film will be set in Los Angeles. Last May's "Fast & Furious 6" is the highest grossing film for Universal. In the worldwide box office, the film made $750 million (RM247 billion). "Fast & Furious 7" will likely be released around mid-2014. Hounsou, known for his roles in "Blood Diomond", "Gladiator" and "The Tempest", will also be due to star as the Angel of Death in "Paradise Lost". The film is an adaptation of John Milton's poem and would feature Bradley Cooper as Lucifer and Benjamin Walker as the Archangel Michael. Other upcoming projects for Hounsou include "Baggage Claim", "Seventh Son", "The Vatican Tapes", and "How To Train Your Dragon 2". He is also set to star as Korath in Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy".
