1 Apr – It is a rare moment for four big stars from different parts of the world to come together on the same stage to promote a movie. Hong Kong's Ekin Cheng, Mainland China's Yu Bo, Taiwan's Vic Chou and Wu Chun from Brunei were in Malaysia recently to promote their upcoming movie, "Saving General Yang". Fans went berserk over the appearance of the hunky stars, all personally hand-picked by director Ronny Yu, who made sure that every actor depicting the seven Yang brothers should strictly adhere to 'idol' status good-looks and be no shorter than 180cm. Yu as well as iconic comedienne and producer, Raymond Wong, joined in the fray in the Malaysian leg tour in support of the movie. "Too bad I'm 179cm, or I would have made the cut as one of the brothers!" joked Wong.
The shooting process for the film had gone so smoothly that Yu had confirmed that a modern spin involving the original cast would be made, with the plot running along the lines of Hollywood's "Ocean's Eleven". Spirits were high for the night as four lucky fans got the chance to share the stage with the four good-looking stars for some games and laughter before heading for the gala premiere of "Saving General Yang". Fans from Thailand, China and even as far as Japan headed over to Malaysian grounds just to have a glimpse of the stars. "Saving General Yang" is based on the true story of a family of warriors who dedicate their lives to fighting for the country. When General Yang gets stranded during battle, his seven sons set out to bring their father home before the enemy reaches him. Ekin Cheng portrays the older brother with Yu Bo as the second while Vic Chou and Wu Chun play the third and sixth brother respectively. "Saving General Yang" will be released nationwide on 4 April 2013.
