Jackman keen to dance in next musical

Hugh Jackman won a Golden Globe award for his role as Jean Valjean in musical drama "Les Miserables".

17 Jan – No doubt that Hugh Jackman is currently one of the best all-rounded players at the Broadway stage and on the silver screen, plus his recent Golden Globe triumph for Best Actor with his astonishing performance in Tom Hooper's critically acclaimed musical drama "Les Miserables" has been motivating the Australian to take up more roles in musical films but this time he would eye for a lighter character like Sky Masterson of "Guys And Dolls", according to Digital Spy.

"I think I wanna do maybe a lighter one next time. What about some dancing in the next one?" said Jackman, who played the heavy character Jean Valjean, a Frenchman released from the Toulon prison after years of imprisonment for stealing and failed attempts of going against the law.

The 44-year-old revealed that he might be giving a shot to an iconic character from the 1950s Tony Award-winning musical, "Guys And Dolls".

He said, "I wouldn't mind doing Sky Masterson. That would be fun."

Sky Masterson is a New York City gambler who receives the challenge of a bet to make a woman fall in love with him and thus convince her for a trip to Havana in "Guys And Dolls".

In 1955, Joseph L.Mankiewicz brought the musical onto the big screen with the same name alongside the presence of Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra as the main cast.

Hugh Jackman's highly anticipated action film "The Wolverine" will be released in Malaysia and Singapore on 25 July 2013.

Jackman will next be seen in Peter Farrelly's comedy film "Movie 43", alongside some of the biggest stars in Hollywood including Halle Berry, Gerald Butler, Elizabeth Banks, Kristen Bell and Naomi Watts. He will also be clawing his way to the cinemas in both Malaysia and Singapore with "The Wolverine" by James Mangold on 25 July this year.
