10 Oct – Malaysian director and script writer James Lee is known as one of the country's best known and most respected art-house directors on the festival circuit, and this time he has given the world "Claypot Curry Killers", a horror/thriller piece containing subjects like cannibalism and classic gore. But with the film's extreme content, the Malaysian censorship board had refused the film's release twice, so Lee opted for another route to help release his film here. "I think everyone can buy at their own time with Astro First Eksklusif," he said, "The changes I made in the local version is the version that will be on Astro First. The international version might not be every Malaysian's cup of tea due to the gore and violence, like "Saw" or "Hostel"."
When he was asked if he opted for utilizing Astro First Eksklusif instead of waiting for the movie to be approved for cinematic release, he replied, "It's not about my lack of confidence in a cinematic release. It's just the way I feel would fit the film better." "Claypot Curry Killers" is a story of a mother and three daughters driven to a life of bloodlust and revenge, as they run a successful claypot curry business at the same time. As of 10 October 2013 the film is now available in Malaysia for customers of Astro's cable service via subscription to their Astro First Exclusive (Channel 480).
