16 Aug – The annual Japanese Film Festival is coming back again this September, and it is extra special this time because it will be the 10th anniversary as it will return for its tenth year in Malaysia! The festival will be screening 9 different Japanese films, which vary from comedy to animation and it will screen in the familiar venues including the Klang Valley, Penang and even in the East Coast. Films that will be screened include "Ken & Mary", which was filmed here in Malaysia back in 2011. This would also be the World Premiere for the film as it will only be released in Japan this November. "Ken & Mary" tells the story of a Japanese father who goes all the way to Malaysia, to break off the engagement of his daughter. The film also features Malaysia's own comedian, Zizan Raja Lawak, who plays the colleague of the daughter in the film.
Other films shown for the Film Festival include "Ogawa no Hotori", "The Chef of South Polar", "The Great Passage", "The Kirishima Thing", "Until the Break of Dawn", "Dearest", "Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror", and "Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea". In Klang Valley, screening dates are 12 to 17 September 2013 in GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Mid Valley and GSC 1 Utama. In Penang, screening dates are 19 to 22 September 2013 in GSC Gurney Plaza. In Kuching, screening dates are 26 to 29 September 2013 in GSC City One Mall and in Kota Kinabalu, screening dates are 3 to 6 October 2013 in GSC Suria Sabah Mall.
