JGL in "Sin City" not "Guardians"

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's last action role was in "Looper", playing a young Bruce Willis.

9 Jan – Is there no end to what Joseph Gordon-Levitt can do? With his feature-length directorial debut "Don Jon's Addiction" set to premiere soon and his rumoured audition for Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy", the actor and director is currently making headlines, but it has been recently revealed that Gordon-Levitt has turned down the role of Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord.

According to Collider, Gordon-Levitt has also turned down the lead role in Warner Bros.' "Godzilla" reboot, and that his next project is actually the lead role in director Robert Rodriguez's upcoming sequel "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For".

It was reported that the lead role was originally offered to Johnny Depp ("The Long Ranger"), but considering Rodriguez's "Sin City", Gordon-Levitt's lead will not be the only one, but one of the core characters of the film's multiple intersecting storylines. Gordon-Levitt plays Johnny in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For", who is a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.

The upcoming sequel also stars cast members Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Jamie King, Rosario Dawson, and newcomers Jamie Chung and Dennis Haysbert. It is yet unknown whether Clive Owen and Bruce Willis will be reprising their characters.

Clive Owen in the original "Sin City", which broke new ground with its visual style.

There is still the character of Ava Lord to be casted, and it was known that Angelina Jolie was said to be Rodríguez's first choice in the role of Ava, so much so that he was delaying production to correspond with her pregnancy although Rachel Weisz has just replaced her as the current frontrunner.

The film is based on Frank Miller's second book in the "Sin City" series, although it will have an open storyline. Filming on "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" began at the end of October, with the film set for a US release on 4 October 2013.

Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt can next be seen in "Lincoln", to be released in Malaysia and Singapore on 21 February 2013.
