John C. Reilly may join "Guardians"

John C. Reilly may play Rhomann Dey in "Guardians Of The Galaxy".

29 May – James Gunn's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" is shaping to be as strange as the premise sounds with a talking racoon, with the newest addition to the cast may be John C. Reilly.

It is speculated that the character that Reilly may play is Rhomann Dey, a human agent serving as a liaison between the Guardians and S.H.I.E.L.D. much like Agent Coulson is to the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. This is a major rewrite from Dey from the comics, as the original was the leader of the Nova Corps of Xandar, who battled the Warlod Zorr and lost. Dey flew to Earth ahead of Zorr and chose randomly Richard Rider as the new Nova, transferring his power and linking minds with him.

If negotiations go through, this would be the first time that the "Wreck-It Ralph" actor will be in a superhero blockbuster film.

Shooting for "Guardians Of The Galaxy" will begin in June for a release date of 1 August 2014.
