13 Nov– Hong Kong actor Andy Lau will be gracing our Malaysian shores, together with fellow actor Gordon Lam Ka Tung on 3 December to promote his new upcoming action thriller movie "Firestorm". This won't be his first visit to the country as he did last make a visit in 2011. "Firestorm" is a the $20 million (RM64 million) project, produced by Bill Kong and Lau, and is the directorial debut of Alan Yuen, previously known for penning several of Hong Kong director Benny Chan's action films, including "New Police Story" and "Shaolin" starring Jackie Chan. Lau visit to Malaysia later this year will be the one and only Asian stopover to promote the film, so the fans that will miss this appearance may have to wait until 2015 for the actor to make his appearance again!
Besides Malaysia, "Firestorm" was also sold to Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and inflight during the Cannes Marche du Film. Negotiations are still currently underway for additional deals for North America, France, U.K. and the Middle East. Lau added his blood, sweat and tears into the making of "Firestorm" as he is the investor, producer and the main actor of the film, which explores the strange relationship between the police and the world of gangsters. The story centres on a hardboiled police inspector (Lau) who must confront, and cross, moral lines in order to hunt down a crew of seasoned criminals. Rounding out the cast are Lam Ka Tung, Hu Jun and Yao Chen. "Firestorm" will open in cinemas on 12 December.
