Actress Maimon Muttalib dies

7 Sep – Veteran actress Maimon Muttalib has breathed her last today at her home in Section 17, Shah Alam, at 2.20pm. The actress was 54.

Her death was caused her breast cancer, which is in its fourth and final stage. She had been diagnosed since 2012, but the actress tried her best to hide her disease so as not to trouble others.

According to her family, this morning, her doctor had declared that nothing more could be done for Maimon, and permitted her children to take their mother home from University Malaya Medical Centre, Petaling Jaya, where she had been receiving treatment. Upon reaching her home, the actress passed away.

Her body will be buried tonight in her hometown at Kg. Sialang in Tangkak, Johor.

The actress is survived by her five children, which are Kamarul Syahid Keristifa, 34, Surayatul Nadia Keristifa, 32, Surayatul Natasya Keristifa, 25, twins Abdul Rahman Keristifa and Abdul Rahman Keristifa, 16.

Throughout her acting career, Maimon, whose full name is Maimon Abdul Mutalib, has received several nominations at Anugerah Skrin for Best Supporting Drama Actress. Some of her better known films are "Sumpahan Puaka", "Hantu Dalam Botol Kicap", "Chantek" and "Budak Pailang".
