"The Muppets" prep for stage musical

Get ready to see "The Muppets...Again!"

13 Jun – A musical is on its way for The Muppets! Just last month, Disney Theatrical planned an elaborate showcase for their staff to test out the theatre setting with the puppets.

A total of 85 puppets will be used and "The Muppets" main star Kermit performed "Rainbow Connection", so fans can expect the Broadway show to do the same and more. Two-time Tony-nominated writer and director Alex Timbers will be directing.

Last July, the Muppets performed two shows at Montreal's Just For Laughs festival, which was rated PG-13. It is still too early to tell whether the Broadway will be family friendly.

On another note, stage versions of "Shakespeare In Love", "Father Of The Bride" and "Hunchback Of Notre Dame" are reportedly in the works under Disney Theatrical.

The Muppets are currently filming for the sequel to the 2011 movie "The Muppets", titled "The Muppets...Again!" with Ricky Gervais taking over the lead role from Jason Segal. The movie will hit theatres 21 March 2014.
