28 Mar – Melaka is ready to give an incentive to local filmmakers who are interested to film in the Hang Tuah state. The Head Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, has stated that the incentive includes not having to prepare any lodgings beforehand or pay for them. "When artists don't have a place to stay, we provide lodgings. They can stay in a place we call 'Bukit Peringgit' for as long as filming takes," said Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam at the launch of "Suami Aku Ustaz", directed by Adi Putra.
The government of Melaka is hoping that with this scheme, the film, as well as future films made in the state will help promote it as a tourist destination, thereby attracting more people from inside and outside the country. "Before this, Melaka has been the place where Bollywood actor Datuk Shah Rukh Khan filmed, "Don 2". The result was extraordinary when it came to the country being a tourist destination, especially for Melaka." Adi Putra's first directorial debut, "Suami Aku Ustaz" is aiming for a 25-day shoot in Melaka. The actor-director will star alongside actress Nora Danish in the film, which is expected to be shown in local theatres early next year.
