"Potter" spin off to be made


A movie series will be made based on JK Rowling's side book about the creatures of the wizarding world.

13 Sep – It has been recently announced that a new "Harry Potter" related film series based on the world of JK Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be made, and JK Rowling herself is on to write the screenplay for them!

"Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them" movie is quoted to be an original story and will mark Rowling's screenwriting debut. It is also planned as the first picture in a new film series. The series itself will focus on the 'author' of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander.

"The series is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the "Harry Potter" series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the "Harry Potter" books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway," says Rowling in her statement.

In addition the news spreading throughout the internet and overwhelming "Potter" fans, there has been more news to add on to it. Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara addressed the news concerning the new series, "The hope is that we're going to build a film franchise."

He plans to create an attraction within the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter", by Universal Parks and Resorts, which will be part of the plans for "Fantastic Beasts" franchise. He also mentioned creating a video game alongside of it.

Actress Evanna Lynch, who starred in the Potter films as Luna Lovegood, used to her Twitter to begin her campaign to have a role in the "Fantastic Beasts" series.

"Maybe "Fantastic Beasts" will turn into a long thing like HP did & I can play Luna as an old lady? @wbpictures #hopeful #fantasticbeasts," she tweeted.

The "Fantastic Beasts" movie is currently in early days of production, so dates of release are still unconfirmed.
