Veteran actress Latifah Omar dies


Latifah Omar passed away last Sunday.

10 Jun – Yesterday evening, Malaysian actress Latifah Omar passed away at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) at 6.19pm. She was 74.

According to her son, Affendi Rahmat, 55, his mother suffered from colon cancer at a medical center in Kampung Baru before she was taken to UKMMC last week to undergo surgery.

"The doctor said her intestines were swollen and blocked, so surgery was scheduled for today to stabilize her but she died at 6.19pm," he said as quoted by Bernama

Her body was buried at a Muslim cemetery in Taman Keramat, Kuala Lumpur at about 11am today.

 

Latifah Omar was a popular actress in the 1950s to the 1970s and often appeared with fellow actor Nordin Ahmad in films. Some of the films that they have starred in together include "Panggilan Pulau", "Bawang Putih Bawang Merah", "Laila Majnun", "Gurindam Jiwa" and "Naga Tasik Chini".

On another note, last Tuesday, fellow actor S. Shamsuddin died in Singapore following poor years of health.
