14 May – After months of showing his interest to play as the mutant, Channing Tatum would finally get his wish to play as the charming Gambit in the next "X-Men" movie.

Long time "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner has confirmed that Tatum will indeed play as the roguish mutant Remy LeBeau during an interview with Total Film at a recent premiere of the "X-Men: Days of Future Past".

"Well you know he's a rogue, Channing. He's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that...So I think he'll be great, he'll be great for Gambit, and he's a southerner too, he's not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans," said Donner.

Gambit, who was first played by Taylor Kitsch in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", is set to make his screen return in "X-Men: Apocalypse", set for release in 2016.

Aside from that, The Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed that Gambit is also set to have his own spin-off from the main series, but it is currently under development with no directors named for the project.

Other than Gambit, Donner also revealed that they were looking to bring back Deadpool (last played by Ryan Reynolds, also in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine") for a cinematic appearance and is 'fascinated' by the idea of "X-Force" to make their bigscreen debut.
