19 Nov – With production on "X-Men: Apocalypse" expected to begin early next year, several names are now being thrown around as the possible actors to join the movie. According to The Wrap, budding actresses Elle Fanning, Chloe Grace Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld are being eyed for the part of young Phoenix, also known as Jean Grey. Meanwhile, silver screen newcomers Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet will be vying for a spot as young Cyclops. Director Bryan Singer has said that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be taking place in the 1980s, a decade after the events of "X-Men: Days of Future Past", and will be featuring some younger versions of the familiar characters.
It seems that Singer is aiming high for the Phoenix role, as the rumoured actresses have all appeared in successful movies. Fanning appeared in Disney's "Maleficent" as Princess Aurora, Moretz was Teri in "The Equalizer" and Steinfeld made an impressive performance as Mattie Ross in "True Grit". Chalamet can currently be seen in "Interstellar" as Tom, while Rowe and Hardy has yet to make a big screen debut. However, no one has confirmed his or her participation in the upcoming "X-Men" movie as of yet. Meanwhile, the old cast will be returning; James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters will be back to play Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Wolverine, Beast and Quicksilver. "X-Men: Apocalypse" hits the cinemas in North America on 27 May 2016. (Main photo source: thewrap.com)
