8 Oct – Mystery thriller film, "Gone Girl" proudly took first spot in U.S. weekend box office chart from 2 to 5 October 2014 in its opening week. In the meantime, supernatural horror film, "Annabelle" managed to get first place in Malaysia while "Dracula Untold" dominated Singapore's weekend box office collection. Adapted from Gillian Flynn 2012 novel of the same name, "Gone Girl" opened up with a weekend gross of over USD 37.5 million in U.S weekend box office collection while "The Conjuring" spin-off, "Annabelle" comes in a close second with a weekend gross of over USD 37.1 million. Meanwhile, Denzel Washington film, "The Equalizer" fell from first place to third place with a box office collection of over USD 18.7 million where almost half of the amount the film collected on the previous weekend is reduced. In Malaysia, the demon doll "Annabelle" also managed to beat previous box office champion, "The Equalizer" to third place. Meanwhile, dark fantasy action film, "Dracula Untold" lands on second place in its opening weekend.
Over in Singapore, "Dracula Untold" gets the top spot in last weekend box office chart while "Annabelle" took second place. The third place goes to "The Equalizer" who fell from first place to third place. Also opening in Malaysia last week are "Dollah Superstar", "Bang Bang", "Soekarno", "Wedding Palace", "Glorifying Love", "Aranmanai" and "Yaan". Other new movies that opened in Singapore last week are "Jeeva", "Beauty and the Beast", "Haider", "Yaan", "Left Behind", "Bang Bang" and "Dolphin Tale 2".
