18 Dec – Good news for movie fans in Kuala Lumpur! Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has finally opened its latest cinema at Quill City Mall, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, today. The 29th cinema from the cinema exhibitor encompasses 10 screens with an overall seating capacity of 1,751. This also includes 20 wheelchair spots. The cinema houses a THX certified hall equipped with the Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. Similar to the D-Box equipped seats for the Dolby Atmos halls at GSC 1 Utama and GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Quill City Mall is also expected to introduce D-Box in the future. "A total of RM21.5 million has been invested by both GSC and the mall management to build this multiplex" said the CEO of Golden Screen Cinemas, Ms. Koh Mei Lee.
She also added that GSC will be adding on five more new cinemas next year and they will be located at, NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur; IOI City Mall, Putrajaya; Klang Parade; Ipoh Parade and Aman Central, Alor Setar. In 2016, GSC will expand to Bintulu Times Square in Sarawak. As for GSC's current cinemas, GSC Mid Valley will be expanded to house 21 screens and more upgrading works will be done for GSC Summit USJ. They are scheduled to be completed by 2015. Apart from GSC Quill City Mall, other GSC cinemas located in Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle is the 13-screen GSC Pavilion KL and the 10-screen GSC Berjaya Times Square.
