9 Nov – Local film, "Lelaki Harapan Dunia" also known as "Men Who Save the World" has been selected to compete at the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) under the Asian Select category along with seven other films for the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award. The prestigious film festival will take place from 10 to 17 November 2014 with top Bollywood actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan expected to attend the festival. In August 2014, the film had a world premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival and was in competition under Filmmakers of the Present category. Since then the film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and was chosen for main competition at the Nara International Film Festival in Japan. Its film festival run continued in October at the 33rd Vancouver International Film Festival and at the 19th Busan International Film Festival. "Lelaki Harapan Dunia" is a story about a peculiar Malay village that goes through a series of mishaps when an on-the-run African immigrant is mistaken for a Malay folklore ghost, 'Orang Minyak'. The film was directed and written by Liew Seng Tat, starring local talents Wan Hanafi Su, Harun Salim Bachik, Soffi Jikan, Jalil Hamid, Azhan Rani and others. "Lelaki Harapan Dunia" will be coming to Malaysian cinemas this 27 November 2014.
