13 Sep – Actor-turned-director, screenwriter, writer and producer, James Franco has gotten the rights to "Fight Club" author, Chuck Palahniuk's 2007 satire novel, "Rant" in which he is going to adapt into a feature film.

The news was reported by Lit Reactor when Chuck Palahniuk himself confirmed the news on Twitter,

"As of last night we've finalized a deal for James Franco to option my novel Rant. Details about the casting, shooting and a proposed release date will be forthcoming. Hurray. After the opportunity to work with Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Sam Rockwell, I can't imagine a more exciting actor to work with than Franco."

Franco and Palahniuk confirmed the news on Twitter.

Palahniuk's "Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey" is about a high school rebel named Buster Casey who was nicknamed 'Rant' due to a childhood prank involving animal organs. Buster then becomes obsessed with getting bitten by rabid animals such as venomous snakes and spiders.

After he moves to a city where the residents are divided by curfew into the respectable Daytimers and the oppressed Nighttimers, he becomes the leader of an urban demolition derby called 'Party Crashing' and starts a nationwide rabies epidemic that erupts into zombie-invasion-like proportions.

Since the film has yet gotten into production, it is unsure whether Franco will be producing, directing or acting in the film or even doing all of them together.
