"Magic Mike" sequel is "Magic Mike XXL"

Instead of "Magic Mike 2", the sequel is now named "Magic Mike XXL".

31 Mar – Alright, alright, alright, Steven Soderbergh's runaway hit "Magic Mike" finally gets a director and title!

According to Huffington Post, the film will go by the title "Magic Mike XXL", and Greg Jacobs, who worked as an assistant director for Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original "Magic Mike", will helm it. Soderbergh will remain on board as an executive producer.

"Magic Mike" himself, Channing Tatum, is co-writing the script for the sequel with Reid Carolin, who penned the original. Little is known about the film, other than Tatum's description that it is a "road movie".

Tatum's "Magic Mike" co-star, Joe Manganiello told Collider that the sequel will begin shooting this fall, although Warner Bros., the studio that distributed the original, has yet to make an announcement.

"Yeah, it's gonna happen this fall. I think they're going to announce it soon," he said. "It's crazy. I didn't think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it's just proof that I don't know best, all the time. It was the most fun I've ever had, and I can't wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys."

It is unclear if all of the first movie's stars will return, including Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, and Matt Bomer.
