17 Sep – The weekend's box office collection from 11 to 14 September 2014 saw to "The Maze Runner" conquering Malaysia and Singapore in its opening weekend while the American thriller film, "No Good Deed" took the top spot in the U.S weekend box office. Successfully knocking down five-times champion, "The Guardians of The Galaxy" to third place, Idris Elba's "No Good Deed" had managed to collect USD24.2 million in U.S. for its debut. Meanwhile, also in its opening weekend, the "Dolphin Tale" sequel, "Dolphin Tale 2" snagged second place collecting USD15.8 million, while "The Guardians of the Galaxy" which is now in third place, grossed USD8.1 million. In Malaysia, the science fiction thriller, "The Maze Runner" ruled the Malaysian weekend box office while the Mandarin film, "Café Waiting Love" remained in second place. The third place went to the newly released Malay film, "Lagenda Budak Setan 3: Kasyah".
"The Maze Runner" also took over the weekend box office in Singapore pushing the previous week's champion "Step Up: All In" to second place with the third place going to Pixar's "Cars" franchise spin-off, "Planes: Fire & Rescue". Other new movies that had opened in Malaysia last week were; "Sigaram Thodu", "Vanavarayan Vallavarayan", "Finding Fanny", "Fantasia", "The Lion of Judah", "Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary", "Initial D: Awakening", "The Parallel", "The Wind Rises", "Like Father, Like, Son" and "The Boxtrolls". While other new movies that had opened in Singapore last week were; "Sigaram Thodu", "Finding Fanny", "Burma", "Vanavarayan Vallavarayan", "Are You Here", "Afterimages", "Life of Crime", "The Boxtrolls", "The Two Faces of January" and "Peruchazhi".
