Robin Williams dies from suicide

Robin Williams was found dead at home.

12 Aug – After his long time struggle with alcohol and drugs, Robin Williams lost the battle and took his own life at his home earlier today.

The 63-year-old award-winning actor-comedian was pronounced dead by officials who arrived at the residence shortly after receiving an emergency call.

Police are still investigating the case but Marin County Sheriff's Office Coroner Division had cited the cause of death to be asphyxiation.

Famous for his roles in movies such as "Good Morning, Vietnam", "Dead Poet's Society" and "Jumanji" among others, the actor-comedian also had several awards under his belt. His role in "Good Will Hunting" had earned him the much coveted Oscar.

Robin Williams had been battling severe depression for years. The Los Angeles Time reported in July that Williams had returned for treatment in rehab to "'fine-tune' his sobriety".

Fans had been hoping to see more of him after his last TV project, "The Crazy Ones." After the news of his death broke, his fans and celebrity friends alike were seen mourning the actor's passing on his Instagram.

Fans leave condolences on his final post, which was a birthday wish to his daughter two weeks ago.

One of his final cinematic roles, the late actor will be seen in the third instalment of "Night at the Museum"; "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" alongside Ben Stiller this 25 December 2014.
