3 Dec – Getting to step into the shoes of Han Solo would be any actors' dream, so it may come as no surprise that over 2,500 hopefuls are auditioning to play a younger version of the gunslinger. Ansel Elgort ("The Fault in Our Stars"), Aaron-Taylor Johnson ("The Avengers: Age of Ultron") and Dave Franco ("Bad Neighbours") are among the actors who are vying to star in the character's own "Star Wars" spinoff, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is said that the casting team is looking for someone in their late teens or early twenties, though agents are sending in any clients within the 18 to 32 age range. Other hopefuls include movie actors such as Logan Lerman ("Fury"), Jack Reynor ("Transformers: Age of Extinction") and Miles Teller ("Fantastic Four") as well as TV actors Colton Haynes ("Teen Wolf") and Max Thieriot ("Bates Motel"). Contrary to the approach taken by director J.J. Abrams for his "Star Wars" movie – he only cast small time actors as the leads, it seems that Han Solo will be portrayed by a relatively well-known actor in the spinoff. "The Lego Movie" helmers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord are attached to direct the project, which is expected to begin filming in January 2017, so there's definitely plenty of time for the casting agents to sort through the candidates before then. The spinoff is planned for release in North American cinemas on 25 May 2018. Original star Harrison Ford can be seen reprising his Han Solo role in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", awaking in cinemas this December.
