Daven R., director of "CCTV".

29 Jul – Daven R., the director of local horror movie "CCTV", admits that he does not put any target for his directorial debut but hopes that it will be received well by the audience.

"The producers and I did not put any target for it as it is my first movie, so I do not want to put such high hopes on it either," said Daven to Cinema Online at the movie's premiere at Cathay Cineplex eCurve recently.

The director added that he was not entirely satisfied with the end result as there were many aspects of the movie that could've been done better.

"As a director, you might not be satisfied with each and every one of your work. Like me, I am only 70 percent satisfied with my work.

"When I watch [the movie], I feel that there are many issues that can still be improved."

The cast and crew of "CCTV" strike a pose during the premiere.

When asked about the movie's confusing plot and the dialogues that do not seem to flow smoothly despite the actors' good expressions, he replied, "The dialogues are based on how people would've conversed back in the 1980s. You will notice the movie uses '80s props too."

"We maybe missed some aspects, making the audience confused. But like I said, I feel that there are many things that can still be improved.

"I will take this as a useful lesson for my future project."

The movie by Cinemaya Studios Sdn Bhd and Victory Film Production Sdn Bhd has a budget of RM1.3 million and features Hasnul Rahmat, Aeril Zafrel and Asliza Abdullah as well as newcomer Ardel Aryana.

"CCTV" plays in cinemas nationwide and Brunei this 30 July.
