25 Apr – While rumours of a sequel have been around even before "The Equalizer" opened in cinemas last year, it was only recently that Sony Pictures officially confirmed the sequel to the Denzel Washington-led movie. Washington is expected to reprise his role as lead character Robert McCall, Variety reports, but it is not yet known whether the rest of the cast will return.
It is also not confirmed whether Antoine Fuqua will be back in the director's chair, but he and Washington are teaming up for another movie, "Magnificent Seven", which will reunite the duo with "Training Day" co-star Ethan Hawke. 2014's "The Equalizer", which tells the story of a vigilante who helps a young girl under the control of a violent Russian gangster, is based on a 1980's TV series. It received mixed reviews upon release, though leaning more toward the positive as evident by its USD192.3 million worldwide gross; USD1.5 million of it collected in Malaysia and USD977.6 thousand in Singapore.
