30 Oct – With the opening ceremony held at GSC Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) 2015 is officially running in Malaysia. Starting from yesterday, fans of European movies will get to watch 22 movies from 18 countries. Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia, H.E. Luc Vandebon, was present to welcome everybody to the opening event, saying that this year's lineup consisting of romance, drama, comedy and even documentaries is sure to entertain local audiences.
GSC Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Koh Mei Lee, said in her welcome speech that this will be the last film festival to be held at GSC International Screens this year, having hosted several other film festivals including the French Film Festival, Japanese Film Festival and Korean Film Festival throughout the year. Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, took the chance to promote George Town, where EUFF 2015 will be heading to next after KL, as the city was recently named the fourth most charismatic city globally by Lonely Planet.
EUFF 2015 will be held at GSC Gurney Plaza Penang from 12 to 18 November. It will then continue at GSC CityONE Megamall Kuching from 26 November to 2 December and GSC Suria Sabah Mall Kota Kinabalu from 10 to 16 December. EUFF 2015 in the Klang Valley area currently takes place at GSC 1Utama, GSC Mid Valley Megamall and GSC Pavilion KL until 8 November.
