"Jurassic World 2" opens in 2018

Will "Jurassic World 2" also produce its own most parodied scene?

24 Jul – Universal Pictures recently announced that "Jurassic World" is indeed getting a sequel. Tentatively called "Jurassic World 2", the movie is expected to hit cinemas in three years' time.

Hollywood's current leading man Chris Pratt is confirmed to return for the sequel, Variety reports. Bryce Dallas Howard will also be reprising her starring role opposite Pratt.

Director Colin Trevorrow, however, is currently not expected to helm the sequel, though he will be co-writing the script with Derek Connolly again.

"Jurassic World" tweets about the sequel date.

Steven Spielberg, who kick-started the franchise with his 1993 "Jurassic Park" and 1997 "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" before handing over the reins to Joe Johnston for 2001's "Jurassic Park III", will once again return as executive producer.

"Jurassic World", the fourth instalment in the dinosaur movie franchise, has recently become the third highest-grossing movie of all time, beating Marvel's "The Avengers" with its collection of USD1.524 billion, based on Box Office Mojo stats, right behind James Cameron's movies "Titanic" (USD2.186 billion) and "Avatar" (USD2.788 billion).

"Jurassic World 2" is set to open on 22 June 2018.
