21 Feb – A new "Alien" movie is in the works, says "Chappie" director Neill Blomkamp who confirmed via his Instagram that he'll be helming the movie under 20th Century Fox. As the extra-terrestrial franchise is set in the same sci-fi universe as previous helmer Ridley Scott's "Prometheus", the fifth "Alien" film setting is said to take place after "Prometheus 2" that's currently in the works, reports Variety. "So I think this is officially my next film," posted the 35-year-old "District 9" director.
Although it's still early for casting details to be revealed, in early February this year ComingSoon.net reported that the franchise's original star Sigourney Weaver did say that she would be up to reprise her role if Blomkamp was directing the movie. The four previous "Alien" movies minus the spin-off movies with the "Predator" franchise have performed well at the box office, grossing USD557 million worldwide. (Photo Source: Play4Movie.com)
