Nicolas Cage hunts Osama in new comedy

Nicolas Cage as seen in his 2014 movie, "Left Behind".

22 Jan – Nicolas Cage is set to star in an upcoming comedy called "Army of One", where he will be playing the part of an average Joe attempting to hunt down terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.

The satirical comedy movie will be helmed by "Borat" director Larry Charles, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will be loosely based on Chris Heath's article in GQ Magazine about the real-life accounts of Colorado construction worker-cum-ex-con Gary Faulkner, who made several attempts to sneak into Pakistan and Afghanistan to find the al-Qaeda leader himself.

Principal photography for "Army of One" is expected to begin end of March and the movie is slated for an end of the year release.

One of the movies Cage appeared in last year was "Left Behind", which received mostly negative reviews. It grossed USD19.6 million worldwide, USD780 thousand of it collected in Malaysia and USD317 thousand in Singapore.

His movie "Joe" received much more positive reviews from critics but was only shown at select film festivals.

Cage will be seen in two films this year; playing a corrupt politician in "The Runner" and a professor whose son was kidnapped in "Pay the Ghost".
