Sam believes "Polis Evo's" collections can beat "The Journey"

30 Sep – The Malay language action film, "Polis Evo" is now the highest grossing Malaysian film for 2015 as it has managed to collect RM8 million since its release date of 17 September 2015.

This has made its main cast, Shaheizy Sam, confident that the film can break the record set by 2014's "The Journey".

"The Journey" is currently the all-time highest grossing Malaysian film in the country with a collection of RM17.6 million.

"Looking at the progress of "Polis Evo" now, I think we can beat "The Journey"," said the actor during the press preview of his latest film "Rembat".

Just like "Polis Evo", "The Journey" is also a production from Astro Shaw. It is learned that "The Journey" didn't collect much during the first week of its release, as it began its massive collections only during the second week.

"But for "Polis Evo", since the first day of its release up to today – the tickets are still selling out! So I believe that it could beat "The Journey"," he added.

"Polis Evo", which also stars Zizan Razak has received positive feedback and reactions from the audience and local movie critics alike, and Sam is joyous that many are still supporting the local film industry.

Sam added that even though "Polis Evo" has collected RM8 million so far, he did not take a single cent from the profits.

"They [Astro Shaw] didn't promise any bonuses. It is entirely up to them if they feel like rewarding those who they feel have contributed a lot to the film, but I didn't ask for anything."

Directed by Ghaz Abu Bakar, "Polis Evo" follows two very different inspectors; Inspector Khai and Inspector Sani who have to put their differences aside and work together to defeat a drug trafficking syndicate.

Sam's next film, "Rembat", will be released in cinemas nationwide on 8 October 2015. The film follows two hardcore fans of the Malaysian national football team – Chin Chye (Ah Niu) and Malik, who go on a hilarious journey in order to catch a football match between Malaysia and Thailand.
