19 May – Music mogul Simon Cowell is set to produce a biopic of the late The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein. Titled "The Fifth Beatle", the movie will be an adaptation of Vivek J. Tiwary's graphic novel of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tiwary, a Tony award-winning producer, released the novel back in 2013. It follows the life of Brian Epstein, who discovered and propelled the quartet to stardom. He managed the famous and iconic band up until his death in 1967.
"I have always been fascinated by Brian Epstein - and his story," said Cowell. "He played a huge role in The Beatles' incredible success - and, I believe, remains the most talented manager ever. Yet his story has never been fully told." The project was recently unveiled at Cannes but has yet to name its director. It is only known that IM Global and Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment will be producing the feature film.
